Full-Time Equivalency & Going Part-Time

Dear 2nd Years, and Graduating Part-Time Students,

Anyone who is registered for a section of Thesis (which I will manually add to your schedules when the lottery results post to Albert in early December) automatically receives a full-time equivalency status on their student records for the Spring 2018 term.

Full-time equivalency status means you are considered a full-time student for the extra work involved in completing a Thesis project, even though you are registered for less than 12.0 units in Albert. This full-time equivalency status is important for maintaining various requirements for student visas as well as for components of your financial aid packages (specifically loans and scholarships).

If you are beginning to plan out the specific financial implications of going part-time, with a full-time equivalency status in the Spring term, I would advise you to schedule an appointment with a Financial Aid Officer at the StudentLink Center (contact info below) and to be sure to let them know 1.) how many units you plan to take, and 2.) that you will have a Full-Time Equivalency status on your account for taking Thesis. For any questions about your ITP scholarships, you can contact Midori.

And for a breakdown of the tuition and fee rates for Graduate Tisch students for AY 2017-2018 (remember going part-time - less than 12.0-units - is billed on a per-unit basis), see this page:
