Job/Internship Opportunities

Internship FAQs:

ITP staff maintain ITP Opportunities, a public site and email list announcing jobs and internships that may be of interest to the ITP community.

Students seeking to enroll in an Internship course for credit need to:

(1) receive informal approval from your academic adviser to take the internship course
(2) complete the ITP Internship Form (you must be logged into your NYU Home account)
(3) email Dante (dante.delgiacco@nyu.edu) to get enrolled in the Internship course

Students may apply for 1 to 6 credits of internship each semester provided they work the required number of hours, which is an average of 3 hours per week per credit over the 14 week semester.

Internship credit/hours requirements are as follows:

For 1 credit, an average of 3 hours per week over the 14 week semester or a total of 42 hours.
For 2 credits, an average of 6 hours per week over the 14 week semester or a total of 84 hours.
For 3 credits, an average of 9 hours per week over the 14 week semester or a total of 126 hours.
For 4 credits, an average of 12 hours per week over the 14 week semester or a total of 168 hours.
For 5 credits, an average of 15 hours per week over the 14 week semester or a total of 210 hours.
For 6 credits, an average of 18 hours per week over the 14 week semester or a total of 252 hours.

*You may apply for fewer credits than required working hours, not you may not apply for more.


CPT (Curricular Practical Training) FAQs:

International students who have completed one academic year of study in the United States who wish to do a paid internship off campus need to apply for Curricular Practical Training through the Office of Global Services. 

To begin the CPT application process:

(1) fill out the ITP Internship Form (link above)
(2) email Dante to get enrolled in the Internship course
(3) fill out a CPT Request Form and bring it to Dante for signature. 

Then, you bring the completed CPT Request Form (along with the rest of the required materials listed at the top of the CPT form) to OGS for processing.
